30 years have passed since the Republic of Azerbaijan became the member of UNESCO - United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. The Republic of Azerbaijan was admitted as a Member State of the organization on June 3, 1992. Strengthening the relationship between Azerbaijan and UNESCO began from the second half of 1993, after the national leader Heydar Aliyev’s return to power.

UNESCO-Azerbaijan relations started to grow more rapidly after Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva became a Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO in 2004. As a result of her strenuous efforts, the examples of tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Azerbaijan were included into the UNESCO World Heritage List.

In connection with the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan - UNESCO relations, the Presidential Library prepared the E-project entitled "Azerbaijan - UNESCO Relations". The project, presented to internet users, is available in two versions – the Azerbaijani and English languages. The users are provided with detailed information about UNESCO and Azerbaijan - UNESCO relations. An E-library covering the E-version of hundred books about the topic is also offered to the users. The E-project has been prepared by the Library Automation and E-resources Department of the Presidential Library.
